Hello!
I'm Ryan Ragasa, a young problem solver focused on becoming a web developer and designer from Stephens City, VA.
About me.
My name is Ryan Ragasa. I am a young problem solver with the objective of becoming an expert web developer and designer. I created this portfolio with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as a personal website to showcase my skills in Chemical Engineering and Web Development.
Virginia Tech
I recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and minor in computer science. I learned many fundamental engineering concepts including thermodynamics, fluid/mass/heat transfer, separations, process controls, reactor design, and process design.
Powerlifting
Powerlifting used to be a passion of mine, but now I go to the gym just to stay in shape, focusing on consistency and discipline. But when I did use to lift heavy my best numbers were 375 S, 225 B, and 435 D!
Guitar
Playing the guitar is one of my favorite creative outlets. I started learning in the beginning of 2019 and am self taught, much like web development. I have a pretty ecletic music taste and love to play music from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, to Daniel Caesar.
Chess
Chess is a hobby I picked up Fall 2022 reaching an elo of 1500 since then. I play the Vienna for white and French for black. My favorite chess players include Hikaru, GMCanty, and Witty Alien. Add me on Chess.com and let's play!
My experiences.
Where I've worked:
Summer Research Assistant @ Virginia Tech
May 2024 - July 2024
- Conducted research on the use of equivariant graph neural networks for simulations of non-adiabatic molecular dynamics.
Undergraduate Research Assistant @ Virginia Tech
May 2021 - May 2022
- Developed a database of battery performance based on the synthesis process by varying physical parameters of cathode materials such as cathode composition and temperature profile.
- Tested battery performance using Neware and LAND battery testing software.
Research & Development Co-Op @ WestRock
August 2022 - December 2022
- Supported paper mill usage of micro-fibrillated cellulose in paper making by performing lab techniques to determine quality of paper.
- Characterized contents of recyclable paper by starch, ash, organic, and moisture contents to create a database of recycling capabilities.
Plant Engineering Intern @ Evonik
May 2022 - August 2022
- Red-lined piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Organized internal SIS interlock system to help retrieve testing data more efficiently.
- Completed various PHA's including documenting recently installed check valves, scoping out pressure transmitter and power monitor installations, and sizing calculations for conservation ventes.
